Cambodian gov’t approves sub-decree for contracted military service

PHNOM PENH, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian government on Friday passed a sub-decree on the contracted military in a bid to give chance to people to serve in army in a particular period, said a press release after the cabinet ministers meeting.
“The sub-decree aims at establishing and strengthening basic foundation of the source of the forces for Royal Cambodian Armed Forces through giving opportunity to Cambodian people to serve voluntarily based on contracts in administrative service, specialties, technical skills, and battle operations for a limited period,” the statement said.
The sub-decree was drafted by the Ministry of Defense.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Sen reiterated that Cambodia would not allow any person or foreign political organization to use Cambodian territory as the means to fight or to topple the government of another country.
