PHNOM PENH, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his deputies on Thursday paid their last respects to the late leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Il at the DPRK Embassy in Phnom Penh.
At the Embassy, the premier was welcomed by the DPRK’s Ambassador to Cambodia Hong Ki Chol.
Meanwhile, Hun Sen and his deputies laid wreaths and wrote in a condolence book expressing deepest sympathy to Kim’s death.
“On behalf of the government and Cambodian people, I would like to express the deepest condolences with fraternal DPRK’s people who have lost their leader His Excellency Marshal Kim Jong Il,” the premier wrote in the condolence book.
Kim Jong Il passed away on Dec. 17, 2011 at the age of 69 from a “great mental and physical strain” on the train during a field guidance tour, DPRK's official KCNA news agency reported on Dec. 19, 2011.
