PHNOM PENH, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Land prices in capital Phnom Penh remained stable despite ongoing political dispute over election results since July last year, according to a Land Price Survey Report released Monday.
The survey, conducted by V-trust Realty Group, found that the location with the highest price in the city is in Boeung Keng Kang I area in Chamkarmon district, which costs 5,900 U.S. dollars a square meter.
The location with the second highest price is Chak Tomuk area and along the river side with the price of 5,000 U.S. dollars a square meter, following by the area near the central market that costs about 4,000 U.S. dollars a square meter.
The survey said a square meter of land along main roads in the city costs an average of 1,560 U.S. dollars as land along gravel streets cost averagely 940 U.S. dollars.
In Sitha, managing director of V-trust Realty Group, said the growth in real estate and construction was still strong last year even though post-election dispute remained unsolved.
The construction sector had received a total investment of 2.77 billion U.S. dollars last year, up 31 percent year-on-year, according to a government report.
"We foresee that in the next five years, the price of land in the city will continue to grow from year to year," he said at the launching of the survey report.
Cambodia remains trapped in political dispute after the July's election results showed that the Prime Minister Hun Sen's ruling party won 68 parliamentary seats and the Sam Rainsy's opposition party got the remaining 55 seats.
Claiming serious irregularities, the opposition refused to accept the outcome and has boycotted parliament and held many protests in order to demand the resignation of Hun Sen and a re- election.
Hun Sen has said that he would neither step down nor call a re- vote.
