PHNOM PENH, May 18 (Xinhua) -- The elections for municipal,
provincial, district councilors began Sunday morning in Cambodia with
five political parties joining in the contest.
The non-universal poll is cast by only 11,459 sitting commune councilors--typically along party lines--for the municipal, provincial, and district councilors.
According to the National Election Committee (NEC), the five parties participating in the elections are the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), the main opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), the royalist Funcipec Party, the League for Democracy, and the Republican Democracy Party.
NEC secretary-general Tep Nytha said 11,459 sitting commune councilors, including nearly 8,300 coming from the CPP and 2,955 coming from the CNRP, lined up to cast their ballots on Sunday.
More than 800 observers from political parties and civil society are monitoring the poll at 197 polling stations across the country, NEC said.
Preliminary result will be released Sunday evening as the official one will be announced on May 30.
It is the second time the nation held the elections for municipal, provincial, district councilors. The mandate for the councilors is five years.

ReplyDeleteAccording to Mg Cambodia reported Mrs. Barra CEO of GM tries to repeat her previous comment and pointed about GM report.
She tries to explain what the wrong thing is, and company is trying to stop the other safety lapse. The head officer did not make something change. By that side, the recall was announced on Monday, it was really painful that is not only Cobalt problem.
Mrs. Barra really wanted the specifics on whether changes and she wanted everything is clear today about their investigation.
These problems happened because of the company still keep the culture of secrecy over the true impact of the defect.
The world carmaker stopped work in India
ReplyDeleteThe biggest carmaker, Toyota has stopped produce its product, because of facing with labour disagreement with wages in India. As Mg Cambodia reported, they did like this because they want to ensure the safety of the workers and management personnel.
If they still continue, it will effect on 6,400 other workers, in contrast if they stopped two factories in India the salary of the employee will increase.
The increasing of employee salary in average is about 2,700 yen more each month, but some worker will get about 7,300 yen per each month, it is depend on their position, Panasonic and Nissan has announced about it.
