Japan grants Cambodia 3.5 mln USD for human resources development
PHNOM PENH, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The government of Japan on Friday signed up to provide Cambodia a scholarship grant of 3.5 million U.S. dollars for 24 new Cambodian government officials to study in Japan for two years.
The exchange of notes for the grant was inked between Long Visalo, a secretary of state at Cambodia's Foreign Ministry, and Masafumi Kuroki, ambassador of Japan to Cambodia.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Masafumi Kuroki said that since the year 2000, Japan has provided scholarship aid to Cambodia in a total amount of 38.5 million U.S. dollars, covering for 272 Cambodian scholarship fellows to study in Japan.
Long Visalo said the assistance was very important to help develop human resources in Cambodia and it would further strengthen the two countries' relations and cooperation.
